How the watchlist works
Production index within the same NCAA division and position. Outfield rates shrink toward the cohort average using 450 prior minutes. It does not estimate professional success or defensive skill.
- At least 450 minutes and five appearances. Goals, assists and minutes must cover every included appearance.
- Only players linked to a canonical college roster profile. Previously drafted people are excluded. Conflicting identities or overlapping alias records are held for review.
- Percentiles compare players in the same position and NCAA division. Select a position for the clearest comparison. Scores across divisions do not indicate equivalent playing strength.
- Forwards: 55% scoring rate, 30% assist rate, 15% share of team minutes. Midfielders: 30%, 45%, 25%. Defenders with unspecified roles: 15%, 20%, 65%. Where at least ten qualified players have an identified role, fullbacks use separate cohorts weighted 15%, 30%, 55%; centre-backs 10%, 10%, 80%. Smaller groups stay in the general defender comparison.
- Goalkeepers need complete goals-conceded and minutes data. Their separate index uses smoothed goals conceded per 90 (65%) and playing-time share (35%). It reflects team defensive context, not isolated shot-stopping ability. Missing saves remain unavailable and do not count as zero.
- A cohort must contain at least ten qualified players. Goals include penalties; NCAA may award two official assists per goal.
Defenders are screened mainly for playing time and attacking contribution; tackles, interceptions, duels and passing are unavailable. Goalkeeper results also depend on team defence. No cross-division strength adjustment is applied.
Eligibility and mock selections
The watchlist is not an MLS eligible-player list. School year is a screening clue, not proof of eligibility. Freshmen and players with unknown school year remain on the watchlist but are excluded from this mock scenario.
The hypothetical three-round draft uses the reverse current overall MLS table and the highest remaining Division I production score within the historical position allocation. The position mix and timing follow the last five stored MLS drafts, calculated separately for each round. Official active-roster position counts can adjust the order of position allocations within those quotas; they do not establish vacancies. Unverified NEXT Pro and academy coverage stays unknown. It does not incorporate playoff adjustments, pick trades, territorial rights, club preferences, medical assessments or the unpublished 2027 eligible-player list. The club shown is an illustrative selection slot, not a confirmed pick owner.

From our draft archive and stored position enrichment. Passes and duplicate selections are excluded. Historical selections measure recruitment, not subsequent professional success.
Detailed stored profiles identify 44 fullbacks and 82 centre-backs among those defenders; 23 remain unspecified. These are profile positions and may differ from the role played at draft time. They do not establish an easier transition or present club needs.
Club-depth coverage
25 MLS rosters observed. Counts include active senior and supplemental players, excluding explicit loan-outs. Each missing NEXT Pro or academy layer is unknown, not an empty squad. Contracts, recruitment plans and academy promotion readiness have not been verified.
The depth adjustment compares each position count with the MLS median, capped at ten points for allocation timing. The historical preferred position receives five points; round position quotas and player production ranks stay unchanged. This is a transparent heuristic, not a validated forecast.
